Yoga for Skiers and Riders is a two part series on the first two Sundays of November (Nov 2 and Nov 9). All levels welcome, great for beginners!
GOOD NEWS: YOU DO NOT HAVE TO COME TO BOTH CLASSES! YOU ALSO DO NOT HAVE TO SKI OR RIDE TO COME TO THESE CLASSES!
The first week we will explore a gentler practice for tired muscles and stiff joints. Class will focus on relaxation and restoration of the body. If you use your body hard you have to rest it even harder! This is a great chance to learn some of the basics of yoga; breathing, meditation and super-consciousness are all important to a strong practice both on the slopes and on the mat.
Week Two will look at tapas, or the heating aspects of yoga. Students will learn the fundamentals of linking breath with movement to increase stamina and control. Sun Salutations and vinyasa warm the body creating strength and flexibility through out the entire body. Taking 10 or 15 minutes to do sun salutations early in the morning before getting on the mountain is a great way to boost energy and warm up your muscles!
